Josh and I safely made it to Japan! With no major bumps in the road. We even managed to kill a 4 hour stopover at Pearson without too much boredom, thanks to some airliner incompetence. Our flight to Japan wasn't assigned a gate until 30 minutes to boarding. We ended up eating at a TTC themed restaurant called the Red Rocket, and spending the rest of the time figuring out where we were supposed to go. The flight itself was long, but made bearable with personal entertainment units in front of every seat. I ended up watching 4-5 movies including the Breach, Sur la trace d'Igor Rizzi, Children of Men, the Lives of Others, and a couple of other things I don't remember. So the lesson here is... fly on Boeing 777-300ERs. Once we landed in Japan, we breezed through customs in record time (under an hour). We hopped a train and made it to our hostel. Upon entering our room it turned out someone was occupying Josh's bed, which lead to a bizzard argument between the "occupier" and the hostel (hostile?) staff. Josh and I were too tired to really care but in the end we both got our beds, and fell asleep. Josh is still asleep now, but I think I'll go wake him soon. Today we'll check out the busier parts of the city and then go see my grandma.
